On Monday, August 5th, a group of 23 Seabrookers attended the Rally to Protect Our Coast at Patriot’s Point! Our Congressman Joe Cunningham addressed the enthusiastic crowd vowing to continue his work toward passing his legislation – H.R. 1941 Coastal and Marine Economies – when Congress returns in September.
Our State Senator Chip Campsen described the work he has done in SC resulting in getting a rider passed on the state budget the excludes offshore oil support. Even though this is only for one year, Campsen vowed to work to pass a bill in the next legislative session making the ban permanent. Those in attendance were encouraged to see all of the efforts being made by both our elected officials and various conservation agencies to protect our coast.
