Carolina had violated the Constitution by relying too heavily on race in
gerrymandering two Congressional districts.
On May 11th, the White House created the Commission on Election Integrity based on Trump’s insistence that three million to five million people voted illegally in the 2016 Presidential election. This commission is not a credible effort to improve our elections or their integrity. To the contrary, the effect of such a commission will likely be to come up with ways to suppress voting, not make it more reliable.
The Mission Statement for the Voting Rights Committee will be reworded to project a more positive and proactive stance.
