SIAN Members Attend Rally at Graham and Sanford Offices

On Tuesday August 1, SIAN members Ronnie Berttucci, Mary Fleck, Martha Goldstein, Lee Hurd, Pam Madaio, Barbara Pollock and Bing Somers attended a rally sponsored by Indivisible Charleston at the offices of Senator Graham and Representative Sanford. About 25 attendees listened to fellow concerned citizens talk about issues including health care, voting rights, the Russian inquiry and women’s reproductive rights.

One speaker also reminded the group about the importance of supporting local efforts that address issues directly. An example presented at the rally is a program sponsored by the Stone Soup Collective in collaboration with Charleston Area Senior Citizens. Every Friday volunteers turn local produce – much of it donated by local farmers – into nutritious soup that is distributed by Meals on Wheels. If you would like to get involved in this effort check it out here.

The organizer from Indivisible Charleston reminded everyone to sign up for their text alerts. This is a great way to stay informed about urgent actions, including response in the event that Robert Mueller gets fired. To sign up text “Follow INDCHSALERTS” to 40404. If Trump fires Mueller, the group is on standby to report to our Senator’s offices within hours to protest this act of disregard for justice and truth.
