On Tuesday, May 15 an attentive group of 35 listened to a presentation by Geof Woglom entitled “An Analysis of the Trump Tax Cuts by a Two-Handed Economist”. Geof explained that Truman once pleaded “Give me a one-handed economist! All my economists say, ‘On the one hand……., on the other hand’ ” and Geof acknowledged he is a two-handed economist.
Geof discussed how economists analyze the likely effects of the tax cuts on the distribution of income, total output, and debt and deficits. He shared his personal view that despite some beneficial aspects, the overall effects of the tax cuts on federal debt makes our fiscal future much worse.
