Meeting Minutes: Women’s Reproductive Rights – June 8, 2017

Pam discussed the impact of House Health Bill and pending Senate Health Bill on Women’s healthcare specifically and referred to the Action Alert. When we call MOCs about Healthcare legislation  we should highlight the disproportionate impact on women.

Meeting Minutes: Economy Committee – May 15, 2017

The meeting focused on discussing our role going forward. 

There was a general consensus that our role includes educating the community about economic policy issues.  We discussed the ideas of holding panel discussions or group events with outside speakers (e.g., inviting Mark Sanford to discuss long-term fiscal challenges) to be held in the fall or winter.

Meeting Minutes: Environmental Committee – May 6, 2017

Karen presented her research on the Clean Water Rule. (Trump has issued and executive order directing the EPA and the Army Corps of Engineers to review and “rescind or revise” the rule.). After discussion by the committee it was decided that the best time for us to take action will most likely be during the period for public comment. Karen agreed to continue to follow this issue.

Meeting Minutes: Human Rights Committee – April 26, 2017

The Committee discussed the broad scope of Human Rights, including, specifically:

Women’s Rights—domestic violence, sex trafficking, sex crimes and harassment, workplace rights and government funding for all (Reproductive Issues and Healthcare were omitted, per se, because they are covered in other SIAN committees)
