Issue: Governor McMaster has issued an executive order that has the potential to limit access to a wide range of health services for low-income citizens. These include annual exams, birth control, testing and treatment for sexually transmitted infections, and lifesaving cancer screenings, that help people manage their health and plan their families. If this executive order stands, these basic health services could be defunded. This appears to be a politically motivated move to further restrict abortion in South Carolina.
Action: Contact Gov. McMaster and tell him that cutting public health care funding for political gain is cruel, callous and out of touch.
- Let him know that you believe in affordable, quality healthcare for all South Carolinians and stand against any moves to restrict funding for qualified providers
- Urge him to remember that this order will hurt real people who rely on the targeted providers for essential health services and convenient access to family planning
- Tell him to put people before politics
